Care

Keep your bracelet beautiful

Natural stone and elastic cord both reward a little attention. A few habits will keep your piece looking and feeling like the day you designed it.

Caring for your bracelet

Everyday wear

Put your bracelet on last — after lotion, perfume and hairspray — and take it off first at the end of the day. Those products are the most common cause of a dulled finish, and they reach the cord as easily as the beads.

Try not to snag it on clothing, bag straps or hard surfaces. A single hard catch does more damage to elastic than months of ordinary wear.

Cleaning your bracelet

Wipe the beads with a soft cloth, dry or barely damp. That is the whole method.

Avoid soaking, ultrasonic cleaners and chemical jewellery dips. Many natural stones are porous — turquoise, lapis lazuli, moonstone and the sandalwood beads especially — and they absorb liquid rather than shed it, which dulls the surface permanently.

Storing your bracelet

Store it flat, away from direct sunlight and heat. Flat matters more than it sounds: hanging a stretch bracelet leaves the cord under constant load.

Keep it apart from other jewellery so harder stones and metal findings do not scratch softer beads. Prolonged sunlight fades some stones over time — amethyst, rose quartz and kunzite are the ones to protect first.

Water, heat & chemicals

Take your bracelet off before showering, swimming, exercising or cleaning. Water, sweat, chlorine and household chemicals all weaken elastic and can damage both stone surfaces and plated findings.

This is the single habit that extends a piece's life the most. Elastic does not fail suddenly — it is weakened repeatedly and then gives way on an ordinary day.

Caring for the elastic cord

Roll the bracelet on and off over your hand rather than pulling it wide open. Over-stretching is the fastest way to shorten an elastic cord's life, and it is the most common way a well-made strand gets ruined.

Elastic naturally relaxes a little with wear. A slight loosening after a few months is the material behaving normally, not a fault.

If it loosens or needs repair

If your cord loosens beyond a comfortable fit, or anything about the piece concerns you, send us a message or email veyrabeads.support@gmail.com with your order number and a photo. Tell us what changed and how long you have had it — we will tell you honestly whether it is a restring or ordinary wear.

Care questions

My stones look duller than when they arrived. Can that be fixed?

Sometimes. Surface residue from lotion or sweat wipes off with a soft cloth. Dulling from soaking or chemical cleaners is usually permanent, because it has altered the polished surface rather than sat on top of it.

Can I sleep in it?

You can, but it shortens the cord's life — a night of pulling against bedding is closer to a snag than to ordinary wear. Storing it flat overnight is the better habit.

How do I cleanse or charge my crystals?

Whatever ritual you keep, keep it dry. Water bowls, salt soaks and long sun baths are all common advice and all three are bad for porous stone and elastic. Moonlight, sound and dry smoke do the same job for your practice without damaging the piece.

Which stones need the most care?

The porous and softer ones: turquoise, lapis lazuli, moonstone, malachite and the sandalwood beads. Obsidian, agate and quartz are considerably more forgiving.
